Herbal FAQs
For an immediate response in relaxation, sleep or pain relief it is best to take directly mixed with a small amount of water. The best way to do this is to measure the recommended amount in the measuring cup provided, top up with approx 20-30mls of water, and take at once without sipping.
For other herbs such as adaptogens and tonics you can add the recommended amount to a glass of water, juice, flavoured mineral water, smoothie, or herbal tea. This is the preferred method for people that don't like the taste of herbal liquids.
Our university qualified Naturopath will provide you with dosage instructions and how long to take your herbal liquid. Depending on the type of herb and what you want to achieve, it is generally advised to take herbal medicine every day for a minimum of 6-8 weeks.
You can evaporate the alcohol content in herbal liquids in two ways:
1. Adding the recommended dose to a glass of 20-100mls of boiling water and wait to cool before consuming.
2. Heat your herbal liquid on the stove on VERY low heat (the lowest possible) for 5-10 minutes. Do not use a metal pot, only ceramic or place the tincture in the top of a double boiler over gently simmering water. Remove from heat after 5-10 minutes and once cooled pour back into the bottle.
