Alfalfa, scientifically known as Medicago sativa, traces its origins back to South-Central Asia. It's a hardy plant characterised by its deep-reaching root system that enables it to resist drought and floods. Alfalfa is visually striking, with spirally arranged leaves and small, vibrant purple flower clusters. Traditionally, Alfalfa has found widespread use as a livestock feed, cherished for its high protein content and digestibility. Alfalfa has a historical role in traditional herbal medicine, especially Chinese medicine. Alfalfa liquid extract is known for its earthy, somewhat grassy taste and a slightly sweet aroma reminiscent of freshly cut hay. Interestingly, people believe that Alfalfa can predict weather changes as it has been observed to close its leaves when a storm is imminent.
