Reishi, Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, and Cordyceps have long histories within East Asian herbal and mushroom preparation traditions. Many of these fungi grow on hardwood forests, mountain regions, and decaying logs, developing distinctive colours, textures, and growth patterns. Reishi was historically referred to in China as the “mushroom of immortality,” while Lion’s Mane is easily recognised by its cascading white appearance resembling flowing icicles or a lion’s mane.
