Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) is native to the northern hemisphere, primarily in the boreal forests near the North Pole. Chaga mushroom has a characteristic appearance, resembling a dark, cracked mass rather than a typical mushroom, often compared to a clump of burnt charcoal. In traditional medicine, Chaga has been used extensively for its reputed immune-supporting and antioxidant properties. The liquid extract of Chaga imparts a unique flavour that is earthy, slightly tart, and reminiscent of vanilla.
